Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m much more a jazz/blues kind of girl. And just the mention of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame made me yawn. But clearly my opinion doesn’t count for much because everyone I know LOVES this place. And I have to admit that the facility is spectacular. Seeing that huge triangular building of glass sitting on the Lake Erie shore is worth the visit. With seven floors of exhibits, if you’re a rock and roll fan, this place will keep you busy for a while.
Doc and I spent a nice summer day here with our friend Phil. There was plenty to keep even me interested. The Hall is packed with photos, guitars, costumes, videos, music and tons of other rock and roll memorabilia, much of it on loan from the artists themselves. There is so much to see in fact, that I was in danger of sensory overload. And Doc and Phil? Well, they went off the deep end! They passed from one exhibit to the next. They told me stories of where they were when this happened. What they were doing when that song came out. Sometimes they just stood there, staring in awe. Let’s face it, I’m not used to either of them ever being speechless! It was weird. Several times I caught them both crying. Yes, two grown men crying over rock and roll exhibits. No, I don’t get it. But if you do, check their website for tickets and times: http://www.rockhall.com/
